Tips ๐Ÿ‘

  • The coast road is quite scenic, make sure to do few stops and relax on the various beaches available.
  • Island is mostly country side besides the massive Geoje city in the middle

Accommodation ๐Ÿ

We stayed at a friend house on the island and that was great to experience local life which was amazing, including insights on local fisherman. There's also plenty of hotels all over the island, including big resorts on the sea.

Getting there ๐Ÿšฒ

We took an internal flight from Jeju directly, booked one week before the trip and super cheap! Like for other areas, we rented a car on arrival at the Busan airport to explore the surroundings!

Food & Drink ๐Ÿœ

Duration โฑ

We spent two full days to explore the area and that was a great duration, enough time to do boat tours and visit the coast without rushing!

Maemi Castle ๐Ÿ’ช

First day on the island, we walked from our friend house to the Maemi castle for an early coffee with a view. We discovered that this 'castle' has actually been built by a single man over many years, adding bricks by bricks on his way home after work. It's more of a fort than a castle overlooking a pretty beach. The spot is more famous for its story of dedication rather than the architecture itself, but worth a stop if you're nearby (the coffee in the one-man-made-castle is excellent).

Local life ๐Ÿง˜

Most of our time on Geoje was spent with locals which was amazing. On arrival we were greeted with a lovely chimaek korean style (beers and fried chicked take away), catching up and playing games. Next day we drove around the island, getting food at ์ ์ˆœ์ด๋„ค๋ฐฅ์ง‘ while learning more on local traditions and culture. After a quick stop to visit the owner farm, we went for a coffee and nap on a lovely beach nearby (๋†์†Œ๋ชฝ๋Œํ•ด์ˆ˜์š•์žฅ) before heading to Geoje city market to grab the supply needed for the evening bbq.

We setup the dinner in our friend office (small local on the beach), and had an amazing dinner we'll definitely remember with them korean-style (even including freshly fished sea-snails by the father of our hosts) cooked by the local Gordon Ramsay. It was such a wholesome experience, super grateful for it (lots of beers too)!.
